BAND Friday 12 October will be our first Band Practice. 1800hrs (6:00 PM) - 2000hrs (8:00 PM) at the Armouries. *Cadets in Band or Flag Party MUST also be on Drill Team.* NO UNIFORM - Civilian Dress Only 2. 1. GLEANERS' ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE This year, we would like the squadron to take part in the Gleaners' Annual City-Wide Food Drive this Sunday (14 October 2012). Cadets Interested in supporting this community event are asked to meet at the Belleville Market Square (Behind City Hall) by 1200hrs. The food drive wraps up at 1800hrs (6:00 PM); however, if a cadet can not stay for the full duration, they may be picked up earlier. Refreshments and Pizza will be served to all volunteers! For those cadets in high school who need to complete their required 40 hours of community service, this is the perfect opportunity! DRESS: C-2 (Winter) Dress with Cadet Parka Liner (Outer if raining) *Recruits without a uniform are asked to wear Black Pants and a White Shirt with Jacket/Coat.* For more information on the Food Drive visit: http://www.gleanersfoodbank.ca/events/Food_Drive/food_drive.html 2. TAG DAY(S) Tag Day is a MANDATORY event held twice a year in order to collect donations. These donations are our squadron's only source of income. Cadets will be assigned and placed in front of local businesses to collect donations from the public, giving them a "I Support Air Cadets" Tag in return! Cadets MUST choose at least one of the following shifts: i) Friday 19 October 1700hrs (5:00 PM) - 2030 (8:30 PM) ii) Saturday 20 October 0900hrs (9:00 AM) - 1230hrs (12:30 PM) iii) Saturday 20 October 1230hrs (12:30 PM) - 1600hrs (4:00 PM) DRESS: C-2 (Winter) Dress with Parka. A sign-up sheet was posted Wednesday (10 October) night. If you did not have the chance to sign it, please E-mail Capt Dixon your shift choice(s) as soon as possible! 3. POPPY DAY In support of the Royal Canadian Legion, our squadron will aid in the sales of Poppies for remembrance day! Much like Tag Day, Cadets will be assigned and placed in front of local businesses to collect donations from the public, giving them a Poppy in return! All proceeds collected go to the Legion. Our Squadron has been assigned the Morning (times coming soon) of Saturday 3 November.This activity can also be for those cadets in high school who need to complete their required 40 hours of community service. A sign-up sheet was posted Wednesday (10 October) night. If you did not have the chance to sign it, please E-mail Capt Dixon as soon as possible if you can attend! 4. REMEMBRANCE DAY The Remembrance Day Parade is a MANDATORY event for ALL squadron members (Cadets and Staff). Please meet at the Armouries on Sunday 11 November for 0930hrs (9:30 AM). We will march to the Belleville Cenotaph for the Remembrance Day Service to honour and remember those who have served and are serving this country. A small Luncheon will be held at the Legion after the parade for all cadets to attend if they wish. (subject to change) 5. LEADERSHIP WEEKEND Our Leadership Weekend, originally scheduled for Saturday 13 October - Sunday 14 October, has been RESCHEDULED for Saturday 17 November - Sunday 18 November. Cadets will be asked to contribute $5.00 for a pizza snack! The weekend will include a tour of the 8 Wing Fire Hall, a tour through the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) hangar, time at the Gymnasium and the Pool. More Information Coming Soon! 6. ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DINNER Our Annual Christmas Dinner will be held Wednesday 19 December at the Officer's Mess - 8 Wing/CFB Trenton. More Information Coming Soon!
1. OPC TICKETS The Air Cadet League - Ontario Provincial Committee has issued our annual lottery tickets. Our squadron has many books of these tickets which MUST be sold. We are asking each cadet to pay for 1 book of tickets ($50.00) upfront. The cadet then sells the tickets to friends and family, making back the $50.00. Once sold, the completed ticket stubs are then returned to the Squadron. Please pick up your book ASAP (the sooner you buy them, the longer you will have to sell them)! * These Tickets make great Christmas Gifts! * ** FINAL TRAINING NIGHT FOR 2012 - 19 DECEMBER 2012 ** FIRST TRAINING NIGHT FOR 2013 - 9 JANUARY 2013 We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

REMINDER: If a cadet cannot attend, for a valid reason, the cadet MUST follow the instructions on the Attendance Notification page. ALSO, any cadets with new or expired health cards MUST see the administration officer (SLt Leadbeater) immediately or they will not be allowed to legally attend ANY cadet functions (including training nights) and will be asked to leave.
TAG DAY(S) are here! Tag Day(s) is our squadron's primary activity for fundraising. Cadets will be placed out front of local businesses and collect donations from civilians. All Proceeds go towards the squadron. This spring's tag days are Friday 19 October from 1700hrs to 2100hrs and Saturday 20 October from 0930hrs to 1700hrs. TAG DAY(S) IS A MANDATORY EVENT FOR ALL CADETS. The Leadership Weekend originally planned for 13-14 October has been rescheduled to 17-18 November due to unforeseen base-wide maintenance. More info to follow! Also, a newspaper article from The Contact was added to our Media Gallery Site. The article features our very own FSgt (now WO2) Pearson with his story about his experiences this summer on the International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) to Arizona, USA (Host countries include: Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Turkey, South Korea, United Kingdom and United States of America). First off, great job by everyone at Wednesday night's CO's parade. You looked awesome!
Congratulations goes out to some of our cadets tonight! Congrats to Matthew Neal and James Pearson who were both promoted to Warrant Officer 2nd Class (WO2). They will both serve as our Squadron Warrant Officers. We would also like to say farewell to one of our senior cadets. FSgt Baker-Cole retired this past Wednesday night as he has aged-out. He will be missed! Finally, We hope everyone and their families has a safe and wonderful thanksgiving holiday!
Wednesday 3 October will be a CO's Parade night.
If you have any Uniform Items that need to be Exchanged, it is STRONGLY encouraged that you do so immediately! See the Supply Officer (OCdt Nelson), on your own initiative, either before opening parade or during break! Any cadets waiting for a uniform please be patient as the parts are on order and should arrive soon!

This past Wednesday night cadets in the proficiency level 2 training program went toured the down town area stopping at the library as part of their training. For those cadets on the orienteering team, more information regarding meeting/practice dates will be coming soon!
